THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RIPPLE EFFECT (J Solomons) was restless and reared in the stalls. b) GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer) was restless in the stalls and jumped awkwardly, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After the running of Race 3, Jockey M Yeni was re-examined by the course Medical Officer and stood down. Rule 25.12 applied. b) Approaching the 400m OCTOBER MORN (R Danielson) was steadied and directed outwards to obtain clear running. c) In a tightly bunched field leaving the 400m, GOLDEN TATJANA (C Habib) became unbalanced and had to be steadied when brushed inwards by KWINTA'S LIGHT (G van Niekerk). d) Approaching the 100 Jockey JP van der Merwe (DOUBLE GRAND SLAM) hesitated with his riding when close to the heels of OCTOBER MORN (R Danielson). e) MRS GERIATRIX (R Fourie) and JUST BE LEKKER (K Matsunyane) were hanging out in the latter stages. f) Jockey J Solomons reported that RIPPLE EFFECT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding RIPPLE EFFECT (J Solomons), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 07/01/2024 to 13/01/2024 inclusive). RIPPLE EFFECT may not be presented for re-passing during this period. h) OCTOBER MORN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
