THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GREY SMOKE (X Ndlovu), PASHTUNWALI (Y Ramzan), BIG FELLA (C Maujean) and THUNDER MASTER (R Khathi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BIG FELLA (C Maujean) proved difficult on parade and proceeded directly to the start. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that should this colt fail to parade in front of the grandstand in future engagements, he may be suspended. b) The start of this race was delayed due to a technical issue which resulted in an interruption to the live feed to the Boardroom. c) PASHTUNWALI (Y Ramzan) and BIG FELLA (C Maujean) made contact leaving the stalls. d) TUSCAN GOLD (L Mxothwa) raced wide in the early stages and, as a consequence, proved difficult to settle. Thereafter, TUSCAN GOLD failed to respond to Jockey L Mxothwa's urgings in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey C Maujean reported that BIG FELLA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) WHATEVER NEXT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
