THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHATSUPBUTTACUP (*S Hlengwa) and DUCHESS OF GOLD (C Zackey) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 150m IDEAL GIFT (S Moodley) was inconvenienced when racing in restricted room between MAURITANIA (C Habib) and BABY ON BOARD (R A Venniker) which was hanging in from the 300m and rolled in marginally. b) Jockey D Daniels reported that he felt something amiss in the running with SHELL SEEKER. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of JUST VIRGINIA (R Fourie) (8.70 lengths, 2/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer G B Puller will be requested to report back on the condition of JUST VIRGINIA upon return to stables. d) MAURITANIA (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (DZ). Trainer W Whitehead appeared before the Board regarding the improved performance of this filly compared to her previous run on the 01.1.2024. She explained to the Board that the Polytrack surface was the reason for the improvement shown today. Trainer W Whitehead undertook to race MAURITANIA on the Polytrack in the future when possible.
