THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BOB (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) DOUGLAS DRAGON (*D B Geerthsen) was slow losing one length.
c) SEA SHANTY (*N Nastili) stumbled shortly after the start.
d) Shortly after the start, JAPANESE STAR (J Penny) and GALLADORN (S Khumalo) came together and bumped.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, TRIP TO STATES (*T Mayhew) was brushed by BOB (C Habib), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) ISIQALABA (*M K Katjedi) raced green.
c) BOB (C Habib) was directed inwards to continue its run at the 200m.
d) Leaving the 200m, GALLADORN (S Khumalo) was carried out by SEA SHANTY (*N Nastili), which shifted out away from the crop.
e) Jockey Wes Marwing reported that DUKE OF ARGYLL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) GREEN FLASH (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) SEA SHANTY raced equipped with cheek pieces (declared 12 January 2024 at 06H39).
b) DOUGLAS DRAGON raced with a tongue tie on (declared 12 January 2024 at 06H39).
c) ISIQALABA is a gelding (gelded 24 August 2023).
Trainer B Crawford was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that ISIQALABA had been gelded. Assistant Trainer J Crawford signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed.
d) MONTE BELLO is a gelding (gelded 1 November 2023).
Trainer B Crawford was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that MONTE BELLO had been gelded. Assistant Trainer J Crawford signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) DUKE OF ARGYLL examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b) JAPANESE STAR fatigued.
c) PHALA MILLIONS stirrup rub on the left side.
THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
