THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 100m, SAY YES (C Habib) was carried in and brushed in by RED MAPLE (G Lerena), which rolled in. Thereafter, leaving the 50m, SAY YES (C Habib) was bumped in by RED MAPLE (G Lerena), which commenced to hang in. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey C Habib, on behalf of the third-placed horse, SAY YES, against the second-placed horse, RED MAPLE, on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward as well as the distance of 0,05 at the finish, was of the opinion that the result had been affected by this incident and that SAY YES would have finished ahead of RED MAPLE and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges result to read: 1st 6 SPRING IN HEAVEN (M Yeni) 2nd 1 SAY YES (C Habib) 3rd 2 RED MAPLE (G Lerena) 4th 3 KWAZZI'S LADY (D De Gouveia) 5th 5 POORLITTLERICHGIRL (S Khumalo) b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that POORLITTLERICHGIRL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) SPRING IN HEAVEN (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
