THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KEBONALESEDI (L Mxothwa) and FIRU STAR (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length. b) DE JANIERO (K Steyn) jumped awkwardly inwards and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, LIKETHECLAPPERS (G van Niekerk) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, YOUREYESONLY (O Noach) cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a further delay. c) After being slow to begin, FIRU STAR (S Veale) was awkwardly placed on the inside of FUTURISMO (C Orffer), which shifted inwards shortly after the start. d) Jockey L Mxothwa (KEBONALESEDI) dropped his crop at the 300m. e) Jockey C Orffer reported that FUTURISMO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) SAVIC (G Wright) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) g) SLURRICANE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
