THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KNOCKOUT (G van Niekerk) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GREAT CAT stumbled and dislodged Jockey S Veale during the canter past, who managed to keep this filly in hand. Both horse and rider were examined on their arrival at the start. As a consequence, GREAT CAT (S Veale) was late arriving at the start, causing a delay. b) Shortly after the start, WINTER RAINFALL (A Domeyer) took an awkward stride when brushed by FLYING V (J P van der Merwe), which shifted inwards leaving the stalls. c) For a short distance leaving the 200m, FLYING V (JP van der Merwe) raced in restricted room between KNOCKOUT (G van Niekerk) and WINTER RAINFALL (A Domeyer), which shifted out marginally. d) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of GREAT CAT he misused his crop by striking GREAT CAT more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R10 000,00. e) In view of the performance of SHE'S MY CAPTAIN (G Wright), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) In view of the performance of MIA'S HARPER (C Zackey), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) GREAT CAT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
