THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MONDIAL (M Yeni) broke through the front gates. The starting stall certificate for this colt has been withdrawn. Stable Employee J Azzie, acting on behalf of Trainers M/A Azzie, was advised (GT). b) DUKE OF SUSSEX (C Zackey) was stubborn loading and, thereafter, was slow losing three lengths. c) OCEAN WARRIOR (K Matsunyane) refused to jump. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Stable Employee M Boya, acting on behalf of Trainer J J van Vuuren, was advised (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TERRA TIME (C Habib) proved reluctant to canter to the start. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised that should this mare behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. b) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that FLASHY APACHE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to MONDIAL, this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 17 January 2024 to 23 January 2024. MONDIAL may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Stable Employee J Azzie, acting on behalf of Trainers M/A, was advised. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to OCEAN WARRIOR, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 17 January 2024 to 23 January 2024. OCEAN WARRIOR may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Stable Employee M Boya, acting on behalf of Trainer J J van Vuuren, was advised. e) TWIN TURBO (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
