THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COLORADO CREEK (C Habib) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) COLORADO CREEK (C Habib) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. b) At approximately the 400m, REAL RELIEF (K Matsunyane), which hung in badly from the 800m, was steadied outwards away from the heels of MAJESTIC TOUCH (S Khumalo). In view of the performance of REAL RELIEF (K Matsunyane), (distance 12,50 lengths, betting 4/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with RED HOT ROSE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) TURBO POWER (*D B Geerthsen), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee J Nosasa, acting on behalf of Trainer S G Tarry, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LINKIN NAVIGATOR: Jockey G Lerena weighed out at 55,9kg, 1kg over the carded weight as declared. b) TURBO POWER: Apprentice D B Geerthsen weighed out at 51,7kg, only claiming 0,5kg of his 1,5kg apprentice allowance of which 0,5kg of overweight was declared. c) SECRET RECIPE: Apprentice S Sosibo weighed out at 51,3kg, only claiming 1kg of his 1,5kg apprentice as declared. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) TURBO POWER raced equipped with blinkers (declared 15 January 2024 at 08H21). b) MISS HANNIGAN raced without a tongue tie (declared 15 January 2024 at 16H01).
