THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GAMER (M Yeni) was stubborn loading. Trainer S J Gray was advised to reschool this colt prior to his next engagement (GT). b) BATTLE OF GERGOVIA (K Matsunyane) was restless in the stalls. c) MASTERSHIP (C Maujean) jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice D B Geerthsen, the rider of CAYENNE PEPPER, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. b) When questioned regarding the performance of MASTERSHIP, Jockey C Maujean explained to the Board that this colt had been disappointing in today's run and, in his opinion, would benefit from being gelded. c) GOLDEN PAVILION (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
