THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEATHCLIFF (K Minnie) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped slow, losing one length. b) PEACE IN OUR WORLD (S Khumalo), QUASIMODO (M Yeni) and GALLIC TRIBE (R Khathi) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) JAEGER MOON (J Gates) was hanging in from the 400m. b) Jockey D Schwarz reported that, in his opinion, ZATARA MAGIC, which raced in advance of the field in the early stages, would be better suited to the shorter straight of the polytrack. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that COSMIC EVENT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockeys R Khathi and M Yeni, the riders of GALLIC TRIBE and QUASIMODO respectively, reported that these geldings did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey K Minnie was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of RUSSIAN EMPIRE he misused his crop by striking RUSSIAN EMPIRE more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey K Minnie signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. f) BOURNEMOUTH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
