THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TAIL OF THE COMET (R Fourie) and NOCTURNAL FLIGHT (C Habib) made contact leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KING OF THE GAULS (G Lerena) refused to settle in the early stages. b) At the 350m BAVARIAN BEAUTY (P Strydom) was directed outwards into clear running on the outside of KING OF SPIN (G Wright), which had raced prominently, commenced to give ground and rolled outwards. Consequently, BAVARIAN BEAUTY (P Strydom) was bumped by INFRARED (L Mxothwa), which was directed inwards off the heels of PRITTI VICTORY (A Mgudlwa) to obtain clear running. Following this, TAIL OF THE COMET (R Fourie) was steadied and lost position when on the heels of BAVARIAN BEAUTY (P Strydom). As a consequence, WILLIE JOHN (K Matsunyane), SUNSHINE DAY (JP van der Merwe), KUPHOLIWE (D Muscutt), BAVARIAN BEAUTY (P Strydom) and KING OF SPIN (G Wright) suffered varying degrees of interference when in restricted galloping room. The Stewards, after carefully considering the incidents and the consequences to a number of runners, determined that no individual horse or rider could be held accountable for the incidents reported and took no further action in this regard. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that SUNSHINE DAY choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) RAPIDASH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (WM) e) COASTAL COMMANDER, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
