THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UNITED COUNCIL (S Khumalo) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) BELLEVARDE (C Maujean) and NAMAQUA BLOSSOM (K A Brewer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AVOONTOAST (N Klink) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. As a consequence, Jockey N Klink briefly lost the footing to both stirrup irons. b) At approximately the 1000m, UNITED COUNCIL (S Khumalo), which commenced to over-race, was steadied and switched out to avoid the heels of OPERA GLASS (C Zackey). As a consequence, BELLEVARDE (C Maujean) and NAMAQUA BLOSSOM (K A Brewer) were carried out. c) FORGIVENESS (*D B Geerthsen) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. d) MOUNT ETNA (*M K Katjedi) shifted out away from the crop from the 500m. e) EXPLOSIVE BOND (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
