En route to the start, PICK AGAIN dislodged its rider, bolted the course and was eventually brought in hand. This caused a delay to the start of this Race. ELUSIVE KAT was slow into stride. DEEPSTON was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls, reared at the off, slow away and lost 2 lengths. OPEN FIRE was nervous in the stalls. After reviewing the start of this race, the Board established that DEEPSTON reared in the pens and was restrained by the handler. As the handler let go of this gelding, he threw his head down shortly before the start could be effected, resulting in this horse losing 2 lengths. The Board was satisfied that DEEPSTON was not impeded by the handler and it was through its own behaviour that it lost 2 lengths. Jockey Fayd'Herbe reported that he felt something amiss with VALENTINIK in the running. Jockey Fortune reported that ELUSIVE KAT was not striding out freely in the running. COYOTE CREEK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: VALENTINIK - not striding out in front. CAPTAIN'S ALPHA - bilateral epistaxis, 60 days suspension applies.
