THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ENCHANTING LADY (R Munger) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) ROWYAANA (D De Gouveia) was slow losing two lengths and thereafter slow into stride. c) BLUE QUARTZ (*S Sosibo) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ROWYAANA (D De Gouveia), after being slow away, failed to muster early speed on debut and raced detached from the field up until the 700m where, in response to Jockey D De Gouveia's urging, this filly managed to regain contact with the field. Thereafter, Jockey D De Gouveia reported that this filly, after being slow away, had tired from the 200m. b) BLUE QUARTZ (*S Sosibo) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m, thereafter, in the concluding stages, this filly was directed inwards away from the heels of ENCHANTING LADY (R Munger). Apprentice S Sosibo (BLUE QUARTZ) appeared before the Board, accompanied by National Riding Master, Mr R Moore, and was questioned regarding his ride in the concluding stages with particular reference to his vigour. He explained to the Board that this filly had raced green and had shifted out away from the crop on two occasions and had to be corrected in order to maintain a straight course. He further added that shortly before the finish, he directed this filly inwards in anticipation of being awkwardly placed on the heels of ENCHANTING LADY (R Munger), which shifted out. Apprentice S Sosibo's version was corroborated by the Patrol film, however, he was advised to ride with sufficient determination and vigour so that his riding does not come under query from the Stewards. c) DHOW SOLO (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) NORTHERN KITTEN was ridden by Apprentice T Mayhew (declared 10 February 2024 at 08H18). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SILENT FANTASY raced with a tongue tie on (declared 10 February 2024 at 07H07). b) SCARLET raced with a tongue tie on (declared 10 February 2024 at 07H08). c) DHOW SOLO raced without a tongue tie (declared 10 February 2024 at 07H43). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ROWYAANA scalp wound right hind. b) WINTER IN PARIS blowing post race; scalp wound left hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
