THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL VENUS (D Ashby), MONTREAL (*DB Geerthsen) and MY TRUE LOVE (X Ndlovu) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ELUSIVE MATA (L Mxothwa) was hanging in in the straight. b) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that ALLEGRA ROSE felt uncomfortable in its action and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Race 3 contd. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with PONTE VECCHIO, which gave ground to the field from the 700m, and he did not persevere with his riding in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey K Steyn reported that LAVA FIELDS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) DUELLONA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
