THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPACE EXPLORER (D Schwarz), ALADO'S PRIDE (*T Mayhew) and MINGSHI (C Maujean) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with SPACE EXPLORER and he did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that GOLD FOR AFRICA, which tired quickly in the straight, was not suited to the 2200m of this race and that, in his opinion, it was too far for this filly. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Race 4 contd. c) Jockey C Habib reported that HEAD GARDENER did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Trainer K Mitchley was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.4 in that she saddled MILITARY MAN outside the designated area, without permission. Trainer K Mitchley signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000,00. e) ST CLOUD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
