THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JET TO THE SUN (G van Niekerk) kicked in the stalls and got its left hind leg between the back gates, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) OPERA VERSE (A Andrews) was stubborn loading, had to be hooded and thereafter jumped slow, losing one length. c) CAPTAIN'S DESTINY (R Fourie) was stubborn loading. d) LEAD TO GLORY (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DAISY DUKE (M Mjoka) raced awkwardly with its head up in the early stages. b) At the 500m LUCY ROCKET (D Ashby) raced onto the heels of DAISY DUKE (M Mjoka) and had to be steadied. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that WEDDING BELLS choked up in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey L Mxothwa (PRETTY PRECIOUS) dropped his crop at the 100m. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding JET TO THE SUN (G van Niekerk), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 18/02/2024 to 24/02/2024 inclusive). JET TO THE SUN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding OPERA VERSE (A Andrews) and CAPTAIN'S DESTINY (R Fourie), Trainers GW Ennion and VH Marshall respectively will be advised to have these fillies re-schooled prior to their next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) CAPTAIN'S DESTINY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
