THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BIG BOY BRUCE refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised (GT). b) BLUE QUARTZ (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly before the finish line, GREAT BARRIER (G Lerena), which shifted out away from the crop, and AND ACTION (K Matsunyane), which shifted in away from the crop, came together and brushed. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BIG BOY BRUCE, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion on two consecutive race days. Trainer M N Houdalakis was advised. c) GREAT BARRIER (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Dawson, acting on behalf of Trainer C Dawson, was advised (MduP). d) AND ACTION (K Matsunyane), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
