THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FORT LAUDERDALE (*K J Lihaba) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 600m HOPE IS POWER (M Yeni) stumbled and became unbalanced when he ran onto and clipped the heels of MR HENLEY (J Jacobs). As a result DARING ACT (A Mgudlwa), COTTON RON (N Patel) and NOW I GOT YOU (D Daniels) had to take evasive action to avoid HOPE IS POWER (M Yeni). Thereafter HOPE IS POWER (M Yeni) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Board after reviewing this incident was satisfied that MR HENLEY (J Jacobs) was sufficiently clear when taking up a run along the inside running rail shortly before HOPE IS POWER clipped heels. b) In view of the performances of DARING ACT (A Mgudlwa) (10.80 lengths and 20/1 in the betting), COTTON RON (N Patel) (9.30 lengths and 20/1 in the betting) and FORT LAUDERDALE (*K J Lihaba) (8.40 lengths and 20/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Stable employee L Faniso acting on behalf of Trainer R Klaasen signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that DARING ACT is a gelding. Accordingly a penalty of a fine of R250 was imposed. d) MR HENLEY (J Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A J Rivalland advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) DARING ACT is a gelding (Gelded 06.01.24). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) HOPE IS POWER: Nothing obvious detected. b) DARING ACT: Coughing. c) COTTON RON: Nothing obvious detected. d) FORT LAUDERDALE: Not striding out left front and coughing. e) MR HENLEY: Cut into left hind.
