ODEN was slow into stride. Leaving the 400m, MR GREENLIGHT improved his position between TOKYO DRIFT and ROCKIN RUSSIAN which resulted in MR GREENLIGHT and ROCKIN RUSSIAN making contact on a number of occasions and both horses becoming unbalanced for a number of strides. The Board upon reviewing this incident, established that MR GREENLIGHT had secured the narrow run between TOKYO DRIFT and ROCKIN RUSSIAN and deemed this to be a racing incident and took no further action. When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have affected the performance of ODEN, Jockey Munger explained to the Board that his riding instructions were to drop this gelding out to the back of the field, get as close to the outside rail as possible and allow him to build momentum throughout the race. When shown the patrol film of the early stages, Jockey Munger conceded that he was further back than intended and as a result had to give ODEN an opportunity to get back into contention. It was his opinion that the gelding is better suited to sprint races and the 1475m is at the upper end of his scope at this stage of his career. Trainer Terzi confirmed the instructions which were given to Jockey Munger. He also added that this was the style of racing which best suited ODEN and that they adopted these tactics due to the stamina concerns of this gelding over the 1475m. He has advised the Board that it is his intention to revert back to sprint distances in this geldings next few races. In the concluding stages, KINGS ARCHER was brushed in by IN CAHOOTS which rolled in. IN CAHOOTS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. TALKTOTHESTARS raced unshod. Vet: ODEN - not striding out right front. LUMBER JACKAROO - abnormal respiratory noise. LAKE KINNERET - abrasions right hind. Scratched: FULL OF ATTITUDE - sold without engagements.
