THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOTAL SURRENDER (M van Rensburg) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) TEXAS RED (C Habib) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) CELESTIAL CITY (K Matsunyane) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Jockey K Matsunyane (CELESTIAL CITY) briefly lost the footing to the left-side stirrup iron, which he managed to regain at the 1200m. b) Leaving the 200m, FUNKY MUSIC (*N Nastili), which shifted in away from the crop, was steadied to avoid running onto the heels of TOTAL SURRENDER (M van Rensburg). c) BRAVE VIKING (C Maujean) and MID WINTER WIND (R Fourie) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that he felt something amiss with WINTER STORIES in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) MID WINTER WIND (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MID WINTER WIND: Jockey R Fourie weighed out at 54,9kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight as declared.
