THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING BAVARIAN (*S Hlengwa) lost 2 lengths. b) LUCRETIUS (S Moodley) stood, losing 3 lengths. Trainer C Hewitson will be advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) As the start was effected KING BAVARIAN (*S Hlengwa) jumped inwards, making contact with the right-side starting stall gate. b) MR PIGALLE (J Jacobs) stumbled leaving the starting stalls. c) At the 250m, LUCRETIUS (S Moodley) was switched to the outside of SIR WILLIAM (T Godden) to continue its run. d) Jockey C Habib reported that RAVENS SWORD took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey W Whitehead will be requested to report back on the condition of RAVENS SWORD upon return to stables. e) In view of the performances of MR PIGALLE (J Jacobs) (10.35 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) and TIME TAKER (M Yeni) (13.95 lengths, 10/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Assistant Trainer V Beets acting on behalf of Trainer P B Muscutt and Trainer N Kotzen will be requested to report back on the condition of their respective horses upon return to stables. f) Trainer C Hewitson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate LUCRETIUS against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. g) ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD (GB) (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G I Rich advised (NS).
