THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) DOUBLE TRADE (Y Ramzan) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay.
b) TRUE DESIGN (S Naidoo) and OH MY GUCCI GIRL (C Maujean) were stubborn loading.
c) BLUEBERRY BLUE (R Khathi) and MAXIGIRL (R Danielson) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
d) SUCHALIFE (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing three lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Leaving the 1100m MILLION REASONS (S Khumalo) was momentarily unbalanced when brushed on the hindquarter by QUEEN OF JAZZ (K Steyn).
b) MAXIGIRL, which raced green, gave ground to the field from the 800m and only responded to Jockey R Danielson's urgings from the 250m.
c) Approaching the 100m YELLOW JACKET (S Khathi) shifted out away from the inside running rail and had to be straightened.
d) In view of the performance of GOLD QUEST (M Yeni), which was hanging in in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e) Jockey L Mxothwa appeared before the Board and was advised that the Stewards had noticed that he had ceased with his riding of FROSTY RECEPTION leaving the 50m. As a consequence, the deficit between 1st and 2nd was reduced to 0.5 of a length at the finish. Jockey L Mxothwa was advised that he has an obligation to ride his mounts, at least hands and heels, to the finish.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SUCHALIFE (X Ndlovu), Trainer SB Kotzen will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DOUBLE TRADE (Y Ramzan), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 02/03/2024 to 08/03/2024 inclusive). DOUBLE TRADE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
h) FROSTY RECEPTION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (LM)
i) EAT PREY LOVE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
