THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAPPY MO (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) CITY LIGHTS (D Schwarz) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. c) CEUTA (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 1300m, PLAY WITH FIRE (S Khumalo), which commenced to over-race, had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of SPRINGER (R Fourie). b) PLAY WITH FIRE (S Khumalo) hung out from the 400m to the 200m. c) At approximately the 300m, SPRINGER (R Fourie) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of HAPPY MO (G Lerena), which hung in from the 400m. d) LADY LENNOX (D De Gouveia), which raced wide, without cover around the turn and into the straight, commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m. e) Jockey D Schwarz, the rider of CITY LIGHTS, accidentally dropped his crop at the 100m. f) In view of the performance of CHERRY OH BABY (J P van der Merwe), (distance 9,25 lengths, betting 5/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) Jockey R Fourie reported that SPRINGER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. h) HAPPY MO (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (MS). i) PLAY WITH FIRE (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
