THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BOOGIEFIELD (AUS) (C Orffer) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, HAMMIE'S HERO (A Domeyer) lifted its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced.
b) At the 250m FORT RED (R Fourie) was carried out and then had to be checked away from the heels of RIVERSTONE (*B Plaatjies), which initially shifted out away from the crop and then continued to shift out. Thereafter, THE TINKERMAN (B Fayd'Herbe) was carried outwards continually by RIVERSTONE (*B Plaatjies) until the finish when RIVERSTONE (*B Plaatjies) continued to shift out without correction. STREET OUTLAW (O Noach), which was racing to the outside of FORT RED (R Fourie), was carried outwards as a consequence. Jockey B Fayd'Herbe (THE TINKERMAN) called for a race review with regards to this incident and after reviewing the patrol film and taking into account the distance of 1.5 lengths between THE TINKERMAN and RIVERSTONE at the finish, took no further action.
c) Apprentice B Plaatjies was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of RIVERSTONE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FORT RED and THE TINKERMAN from the 250m to the finish. Apprentice B Plaatjies signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 14 days. (Dates to be advised)
d) RADICCHIO (S Veale) was hanging out from the 200m.
e) Jockey A Domeyer reported that HAMMIES HERO took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) AGRESSIVO (D Schwarz) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K van den Berg)
g) RIVERSTONE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised. (WM)
