The start of this Race was delayed due to ROYAL FORT becoming restless, breaking through the front gate, being restrained by the rider and returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was declared fit to race whereupon the loading process resumed. MIGHTY ROCK was nervous in the stalls. TEOFILIA, HUMANITARIAN and SNOROK were nervous in the stalls and reared at the off. ROYAL FORT was nervous, broke through the stalls and was reloaded. Trainer Smith was advised to re-school this gelding prior to his next engagement. Jockey Fayd'Herbe, the rider of HUMANITARIAN, and Jockey Cheyne, the rider of TEOFILIA, reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. VARSITY BOURBON shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. Jockey S Fortune reported that his saddle slipped back in the running, this was confirmed by a licenced official. STRAWBERRY GIRL was hanging in from the 200m. ROYAL FORT was hanging in, in the concluding stages. Jockey van Rensburg had his crop entangled in the rein from the 150m. VARSITY BOURBON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HUMANITARIAN - not striding out in front. TEOFILIA - not striding out in front and speedy cut left front. Scratched: TUNDRA - insufficient recovery time.
