THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RUN FOR COVER (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) CARNELO (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) FRENCH IMPACT (*T Mayhew) and GUY ALEXANDER (*N Nastili) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) On parade, SKYFULL lunged forward and unseated Apprentice M K Katjedi. SKYFULL and Apprentice M K Katjedi were reunited and proceeded to the start. On return to the weighing room, it was established that Apprentice M K Katjedi had sustained an injury to his lip and was attended to by the Course Medical Officer. b) As the start was effected, VIVA DE JANEIRO (S Khumalo) was bumped in by RUN FOR COVER (K Matsunyane), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. c) SKYFULL (*M K Katjedi) over-raced in the early and middle stages. d) At approximately the 500m, FRENCH IMPACT (*T Mayhew), which over-raced in the early and middle stages, was directed outwards away from runners to continue its run. e) In view of the performance of CARNELO (C Habib), (distance 8,30 lengths, betting 9/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that GREEN SCEPTRE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) LIBECCIO (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ` Trainer T Zackey advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MASTERS QUEEN was ridden by Jockey J Gates, who weighed out at 55,3kg, 1kg over the carded weight as declared (declared 14 March 2024 at 09H08). b) EIGER SANCTION was ridden by Jockey D Schwarz (declared 14 March 2024 at 14H34). c) GREEN SCEPTRE: Jockey D De Gouveia weighed out at 54,9kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CARNELO examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) GREEN SCEPTRE abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
