THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PONGOLA (R A Venniker), ROY'S COMMAND (S Khumalo) and WINTER WAVES (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start WINTER WAVES (S Moodley) was brushed in by GIAMBATTISTA (R Fourie) which was brushed in by SON OF SILK (T Godden) which jumped in leaving the starting stalls. b) ROY'S COMMAND (S Khumalo) and PHUTULICIOUS (*S Hlengwa) over-raced in the early stages. c) Approaching the 1200m HIGH VELOCITY (M Yeni) which commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages, took an awkward stride. a) ODE TO THE OCEAN (C Habib) which commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages, shifted around in the running. Thereafter, Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss in the running with ODE TO THE OCEAN. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Between the 450m and the 350m PONGOLA (R A Venniker) was brushed in on a number of occasions by HIGH VELOCITY (M Yeni), which was hanging in. c) GIAMBATTISTA (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
