THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN PAVILION (D De Gouveia) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, WILLOW EXPRESS (R Fourie) was buffeted between ANDI'S GIRL (*T Mayhew) and LEAO ALADO (G Lerena), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with LAUGHING WILLIAM in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that LEAO ALADO, which hung out badly from the 600m, shortened its stride and changed legs repeatedly from the 350m and, as a consequence, he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) OFFICER IN COMMAND (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P D Lhamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FUTUREWOLFF raced with a cornell collar (declared 24 February 2024). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LAUGHING WILLIAM not striding out right hind. b) LEAO ALADO not striding out. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
