THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUEEN OF GAUL (K Minnie) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped slow, losing three lengths. b) COLORAMA (Y Ramzan), MORE THAN A DREAM (L Mxothwa) and STATE OF MIND (*T Mayhew) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the ground staff having to attend to a divot on the inside of the running rail at the 1100m. b) At the 150m CONCERTO (R Fourie) shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. c) BEAU KALA (D Schwarz), which shifted in away from the crop and DAWN OF GOLD (M Yeni), which rolled out, brushed shortly before the finish. d) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that MORE THAN A DREAM coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding QUEEN OF GAUL (K Minnie), Trainer AC Greeff will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. f) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SKY VELOCITY he misused his crop by striking SKY VELOCITY more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R10 000,00. g) CONCERTO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
