THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PLAYER X (C Zackey) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. b) HE'S A GAUL (*DB Geerthsen), 'O CAPTAIN (D Schwarz) and HEART OF THIEVES (K Steyn) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) 'O CAPTAIN (D Schwarz) was hanging in in the latter stages. b) The saddle on PLAYER X slipped back in running, which resulted in Jockey C Zackey being unable to assist this gelding in the straight. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. c) Jockey S Naidoo reported that MENTALITY MONSTER took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that THUNDER FORCE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the performance of REGAZZO GRANDE (R Fourie) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.10 in that, while riding HEKNOWS, he made a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line. Jockey M Yeni signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000,00. g) HEKNOWS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
