THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STREWN SKY (G Lerena), BREATH OF MAGIC (C Maujean) and THE PLAYBOY BOMBER (D De Gouveia) were slow losing one length. b) Shortly after the start, ROYAL ALBERT (N Klink) and AMERICAN REBEL (C Habib) came together and bumped. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) APACHE SON (P Mxoli) raced fiercely in the early stages. b) Approaching 1200m, PARADISE FLOWER (*N Nastili) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between BREATH OF MAGIC (C Maujean) and ROYAL ALBERT (N Klink). c) Apprentice N Nastili, the rider of PARADISE FLOWER, accidentally dropped his crop at the 50m. d) Jockey P Strydom (VIVA LA VICTOR) reported that his saddle slipped sideways in running, which could not be confirmed by the Patrol film. In view of the performance of VIVA LA VICTOR, (distance 28,25 lengths, betting 20/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey G Lerena reported that STREWN SKY, which raced with a high head carriage, felt awkward in its action. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) THE PLAYBOY BOMBER (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
