THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) CAPTAIN MARVEL (*S Hlengwa) jumped a patch at approximately the 1000m. Thereafter, Apprentice S Hlengwa reported that the saddle on this mare slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the video evidence. b) HARLEY'S FATE (S Khumalo) was hanging in from the 300m. c) Shortly before the finish line GOLDEN ASPEN (M V'Rensburg) had to be steadied momentarily off the heels of SHONA KIRSTY YVES (R A Venniker) which shifted out marginally away from the crop. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that SPIRITED FLIGHT did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) SWISS PARADISE (M Thackeray) proved fractious proceeding to the start, dislodged Jockey M Thackeray, bolted and was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. The Stipendiary Board acting in terms of Rule 93.2.4 has suspended this filly indefinitely and until such time as it proves tractable cantering to the start to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Board. Trainer A J Rivalland will be advised. f) HARLEY'S FATE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
