THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHOOT THE RAPIDS (C Habib) was slow losing one length. b) TWENTY DRACHMA'S (P Mxoli) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SHOOT THE RAPIDS (C Habib) was severely unbalanced after making contact with the inside running rail at approximately the 1400m. b) GEORGE HANDEL (P Strydom), which raced wide and without cover around the turn and into the straight, commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the performance of MARAUDING HORDE (M van Rensburg), (distance 3,50 lengths, betting 2/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) PURPLE PITCHER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
