The start of this race was delayed due to the Veterinary Surgeon having to refit the tongue tie to POPOVA at the start. BEQUIA broke the front stall gate open due to KARATAGE kicking in the stalls. KARATAGE kicked in stalls and lost 1 length. PATH TO GLORY, KEEP IT REAL and SILVER RAISIN lost 1 length, respectively. In view of the performance of ENRAPTURE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer Govender will be advised to report back on the condition of this filly upon return to the stables. BEQUIA shifted out away from the crop between the 400m and the 100m. Jockey de Melo reported that POPOVA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. Jockey Moodley reported that he felt something amiss with KARATAGE in the concluding stages. Jockey Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse LADY SHARON more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a fine of was imposed. SHEIK'S STORM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: KARATAGE and ENRAPTURE - nothing obvious detected. POPOVA - abnormal respiratory noise.
