THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) NIGHT TIGER (A Domeyer) was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn.
b) UNSOLVED RIDDLE (M Mjoka) was fractious and stood awkwardly in the stalls.
c) CHAMPAGNE MAC (C Orffer) was restless in the stalls.
d) GRAVITY (G van Niekerk) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride.
e) SPIRIT'S UNITE (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) The start of this race was delayed to allow the betting public to restructure their bets, following the withdrawal of NIGHT TIGER (Betting 7/2 at time of scratching).
b) Leaving the 600m WISSA'S ON FIRE (C Bantam) and THE TINKERMAN (B Fayd'Herbe) brushed when THE TINKERMAN (B Fayd'Herbe) attempted to improve into a narrow run between WISSA'S ON FIRE (C Bantam) and JUST VAR (K Steyn).
c) RAF'S ROCKET (C Zackey) was continually held up for a clear run between the 400m and the finish.
d) Approaching the 200m THE TINKERMAN (B Fayd'Herbe) was awkwardly placed on the inside of STREET OUTLAW (O Noach), which rolled in slightly.
e) GRAVITY (G van Niekerk) was held up for a clear run between the 100m and the finish.
f) Jockey M Mjoka reported that UNSOLVED RIDDLE coughed in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g) Jockey C Bantam reported that WISSA'S ON FIRE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
h) In view of the report from the Starter regarding UNSOLVED RIDDLE (M Mjoka), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 14/04/2024 to 20/04/2024 inclusive). UNSOLVED RIDDLE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
i) GRAND BAY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised. (TJ)
