THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CALLABURN (*K J Lihaba) and DOUGLAS DRAGON (P Strydom) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KAROO GOLD (G Lerena) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) TEO TORRIATTE (D Schwarz) hung in from the 300m. c) When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors that accounted for TAXHAVEN'S poor performance, Apprentice M K Katjedi reported that this colt travelled well in the early and middle stages of the race, however, had not responded to his urgings from the 400m and had stayed on one-paced. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with DHONI in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning DHONI, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Stable Employee J Nosasa, acting on behalf of Trainer S G Tarry, was advised f) DARK SILVER (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
