THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TWOSTEP QUEEN (C Habib) was stubborn loading. Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Gray, was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, HANIFAH (P Mxoli) was buffeted between MOTHER CITY (J R Syster) and FATAL FLAW (P Strydom). Shortly thereafter, approaching the 1400m, FATAL FLAW (P Strydom) was brushed by HANIFAH (P Mxoli), which was unbalanced and had its hind quarters turned outwards when bumped by MOTHER CITY (J R Syster), which commenced to over-race. b) Jockey C Habib reported that TWOSTEP QUEEN changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of WORLD OF ALICE, misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Zackey signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2,000 was imposed. d) WORLD OF ALICE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SONIC JET raced equipped with blinkers (declared 24 April 2024 at 09H50). b) MOTHER CITY raced equipped with blinkers (declared 25 April 2024 at 07H40). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) TWOSTEP QUEEN not striding out right front. b) LADY OF TIBET brush wound right hind. c) QUEEN OF FIRE abnormal respiratory noise; brush wound right hind. SCRATCHED: a) ULTIMISSIMO shin sore (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
