THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE SHEPHERD (R Fourie) was stubborn to load. b) BOWIE (T Godden) was stubborn to load. Assistant Trainer G van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised to re-school this gelding. c) MR MASTER STARTER (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SPELLING BEE (C Zackey) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Leaving the 200m TSAR BOMBA (G Lerena) which was hanging in from the 400m and had rolled in, was carried out marginally by NOW I GOT YOU (M Yeni) which was carried out by MR MASTER STARTER (S Moodley) which shifted out away from the crop. Thereafter, at the 100m TSAR BOMBA (G Lerena) and NOW I GOT YOU (M Yeni) were carried out by MR MASTER STARTER (S Moodley) which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately corrected. Jockey S Moodley appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to correct his mounts sooner in similar circumstances in races in future. c) Jockey S Khumalo reported that NELSON BAY took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performances of SPELLING BEE (C Zackey) (4.70 lengths, 9/4 in the betting) and MASTER JOSH (A Mgudlwa) (7.00 lengths, 17/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine, e) THE SHEPHERD (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
