THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO LAVA LAMP (K MATSUNYANE) PROVING RELUCTANT TO PROCEED TO THE START AND HAVING TO BE LED BY A HANDLER. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BOLD ACTION (G Lerena) jumped awkwardly outwards, making contact with the left-side front gate leave leaving the stalls. b) FIRE ON FIRE (D Schwarz) and INTO DANCING (*T Mayhew) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LAVA LAMP (K Matsunyane) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer R Klaasen was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. b) Shortly after the start, LAVA LAMP (K Matsunyane), ETHICAL (M Yeni), FIRE ON FIRE (D Schwarz) suffered varying degrees of interference when awkwardly placed on the outside of BOLD ACTION (G Lerena), which jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls. c) FIRE ON FIRE (D Schwarz) over-raced in the early and middle stages. d) At approximately the 400m, INTO DANCING (*T Mayhew) was carried by HARPER'S WAY (P Mxoli), which rolled in. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that ETHICAL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) An inquiry will be opened into Jockey M Yeni's (ETHICAL) ride in the concluding stages. g) BOLD ACTION (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) DESTINY STAR was ridden by Jockey C Maujean (declared 2 June 2025 at 09H39). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) HARPER'S WAY raced with a tongue tie on (declared 2 June 2025 at 07H25). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ETHICAL examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
