THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VELDSKOEN (AUS) (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All Riders' raised concerns due to the poor visibility caused by the position of the setting sun. b) At approximately the 700m, ON CUE (M Yeni) was unbalanced and had its hind quarter turned outwards when bumped by DUKE OF ROCK (D Schwarz), which shifted out. c) Apprentice S Sosibo, the rider of PRIZED PLATINUM, briefly dropped his right-side rein at the 200m. d) Leaving the 200m, QUICK TRIP (K Matsunyane) was carried out by ON CUE (M Yeni), which shifted out away from the crop and thereafter, shortly before the finish line, QUICK TRIP (K Matsunyane) was brushed by ON CUE (M Yeni), which continued to shift out away from the crop. e) Jockey J Greyling (SEA SHANTY) did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. Thereafter, Jockey J Greyling reported that SEA SHANTY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of DUKE OF ROCK (D Schwarz), (distance 4/1 lengths, betting 4,50), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with VELDSKOEN (AUS) in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) QUICK TRIP (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) KING'S RANSOM raced with a tongue tie on (declared 1 May 2024 at 08H05).
