THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Between the 700m and the 500m BREATH OF MAGIC (C Maujean) lost ground to the field when awkwardly placed on the inside of RAINWATER (J Jacobs) and on the heels of SUPER BUCK MOON (C Habib) which commenced to give ground to the field. Thereafter BREATH OF MAGIC (C Maujean) was switched to the outside of runners to obtain a clear run. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine SUPER BUCK MOON (C Habib). b) Approaching the 300m CODE OF CONDUCT (M Thackeray) shifted out sharply away from the crop. Thereafter CODE OF CONDUCT (M Thackeray) shifted out away from the crop at the 200m. c) JAMES FITZJAMES (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 300m. d) OCEAN PALACE (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
