THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MOUNT PILATUS (K Matsunyane) and BEAMONESQUE (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MOUNT PILATUS (K Matsunyane) was held up for a clear run from the 400m to 200m. b) BEAMONESQUE (P Strydom) hung out from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) SUNSHINE DAY (C Zackey) hung out from the 400m. d) FIRE 'N FLAMES (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J S Roux advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SUNSHINE DAY raced equipped with ear muffs (declared 9 May 2024 at 07H44). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MOUNT PILATUS abnormal respiratory noise. b) BEAMONESQUE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) GLOBAL THUNDER coughing post race.
