THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PROJECT RUNWAY (C Zackey) was stubborn loading.
b) CACUA SPIRIT (C Maujean) and LADY SONATINE (*DB Geerthsen) were slow into stride
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) SEPTEMBER FLOWER was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 12h17 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer AC Greeff was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer AC Greeff was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 12h27 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently SEPTEMBER FLOWER was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12h36, 16/1 in the betting). SEPTEMBER FLOWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (Dr E Reynders)
b) In view of the performance of FANTASY GIRL (R Fourie), which was hanging in throughout, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c) In view of the performance of LADY SONATINE (*DB Geerthsen), which raced green, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d) MISS PREDATOR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (LM)
