THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ROYAL SWAN MASTER (C Zackey) lost 2 lengths.
b) ETIQUETTE (*S Hlengwa) lost 2 lengths.
c) JOHNNY THE THIEF (C Maujean) stood, losing 5 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) WINTER GAMES (S Khumalo) was squeezed out shortly after the start.
b) At the 1800m BANZAI PIPELINE (J Jacobs) was carried out by GOLDEN PEACE (D De Gouveia) which over-raced in the early and middle stages and rolled out.
c) GET IMPRESSED (J P v'd Merwe) over-raced in the early stages.
d) At the 1500m PAPA C (*K J Lihaba) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of OFF LIMITS (*B Plaatjies) which rolled in and was immediately corrected.
e) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss in the running with BELLA SICCOME. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) Jockey J Jacobs reported that BANZAI PIPELINE took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) Jockey S Khumalo reported that WINTER GAMES did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
h) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning BELLA SICCOME, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this mare is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer P V Lafferty was advised. (Suspension date : 12.05.2024 - 10.07.2024 bdi).
i) In view of the Starter's report with regard to JOHNNY THE THIEF (C Maujean), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension date : 12.05.2024 to the 18.05.2024. JOHNNY THE THIEF may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (SL).
j) FLAG MAN (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer G van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) advised (DZ).
