THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JACK IN THE GREEN (A Domeyer) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 1600m RENOWNED (D Schwarz), which over raced in the early stages, had to be steadied off the heels of ROGUE MALE (C Bantam). b) At the 350m WATER DRAGON (A Arries) was directed to the outside of FRENCH TRIP (R Khathi) to secure clear running. Thereafter, WATER DRAGON (A Arries) was carried outwards continually until the finish by FRENCH TRIP (R Khathi), which shifted out. Jockey R Khathi appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. c) At the 300m JOVIAL (K Steyn), which initially made its run towards the outside of the course, was carried outwards and then had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the outside of ALADDIN'S LAMP (L Mxothwa), which was carried outwards by JACK IN THE GREEN (A Domeyer), which was hanging out from the 400m and proved difficult to straighten. Thereafter, between the 100m and the finish, ALADDIN'S LAMP (L Mxothwa) and JACK IN THE GREEN (A Domeyer) raced in close proximity and brushed shortly before the finish. d) Jockey G Wright reported that MOREMI GORGE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) ALADDIN'S LAMP, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised. (SC) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MOREMI GORGE - examined post-race.
