THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INNER SENSE (C Bantam) was restless in the stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) RED MOON RISING (A Andrews) jumped slow, losing three lengths. c) HANG OUT THE STARS (A Arries) was restless in the stalls and thereafter, was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 300m RED MOON RISING (A Andrews) raced onto the heels of a tiring DREAM SEARCHER (G Wright) and had to be steadied and directed inwards. Thereafter, DREAM SEARCHER (G Wright) was not persevered with. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) At the 150m TRIED AND TRUE (D Schwarz) had to be steadied and made contact with HANG OUT THE STARS (A Arries), which in turn was steadied when carried outwards by LITTLE MISS PINK (O Noach), which was directed outwards and into clear running. c) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of LITTLE MISS PINK he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TRIED AND TRUE and HANG OUT THE STARS at the 150m. Jockey O Noach signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. In determining penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey O Noach's clean record with regards to contraventions of this rule. d) Jockey D Schwarz (TRIED AND TRUE) dropped his crop at the 100m. e) Jockey R Khathi reported that QUEEN BOMI made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) In view of the performance of HANG OUT THE STARS (A Arries), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding INNER SENSE (C Bantam) and RED MOON RISING (A Andrews), Trainers L Gila and SJ Snaith will be advised to have these fillies re-schooled prior to their next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. h) Trainer PD Wrensch was charged with a contravention of Rule 59.5, in that he declared Jockey X Carstens to ride BLACK PATH when he was unable to draw the correct carded weight. Trainer PD Wrensch signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. i) LITTLE MISS PINK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
