THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAGDALA (S Naidoo) was stubborn loading and thereafter was slow into stride. b) SI GIOCA (R Fourie) jumped awkwardly inwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the stalls Jockey S Naidoo (MAGDALA) lost the footing to his left-side stirrup iron, which resulted in the saddle slipping sideways. Thereafter, Jockey S Naidoo removed his right-side foot from the stirrup iron, which resulted in him being unable to assist MAGDALA, which then raced awkwardly with its head up in the early stages. As a consequence, both SI GIOCA (R Fourie) and VARIETY BREEZE (C Maujean) were inconvenienced for some distance until passing the 600m. b) Leaving the 500m FAIRY TRIPP (KA Brewer) brushed the inside running rail. c) At the finish PITON DE NEIGE (M van Rensburg), which rolled in slightly, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of JADE'S CABERNEIGH (C Zackey). d) JADE'S CABERNEIGH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
