THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAT FURIOUS (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with DOUGLAS DRAGON, which hung in from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer M Khan was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of DOUGLAS DRAGON on return to stables. b) In view of the performance of HAT FURIOUS (S Khumalo), which commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of HAT FURIOUS on return to stables c) STREWN SKY (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
